Ode To Love

The sun is slowly fading, it's almost out of sight,
Before to long it will be, the darkest part of night,
I hold your hand and wonder, if you will stay with me,
But I know the truth is, what will be, will be.

I know that I will lose you, and only time will tell,
I sit here praying softly, your voyage will go well,
The place that you are going, is wonderful and bright,
You deserve the very best, and God's eternal light.

You are the kindest man, that I have ever known,
The time that you were with me, I know that I have grown,
You taught me things so patiently, you showed me how to live,
And now because you loved me so, I have also learned to give.

Our memories, how they surround me, as I sit here by your bed,
They take me back not so long ago, to the wonderful day we wed,
We walked down the aisle, with a future we did start,
But unknown to us on that day, I'd soon have a broken heart.

Alas, time has slowly healed me, with life I did go on,
Now I wake up each morning, to a new and wondrous dawn.
