Wendy Perry
My Dearest Daughter

I held you close and kissed you
I tried to say goodbye,
But on that day, my life did change
And part of me did die.

I caressed your cheek and held you close
And solemnly did swear,
I'd find you some day, I didn't know how
But I would see you again some where.

I had bathed you and fed you
For the first days of your life,
But for me to try and raise you
Would only cause you strife.

I sang you songs, and told you tales
Of the wonderful life you'd have,
How lucky you'd be and happy too
With a wonderful Mom and Dad.

My tears were flowing uncontrollably
As I told you stories of love,
I told you I would never forget
My beautiful, innocent dove.
Twenty-six years have passed me by
I still feel you in my arms,
And now I'll see you, I knew I would
With all your love and charms.

I've come alive my darling
My heart how it does pound,
I'm whole again, my life feels good
Now that you've been found.

So if you wonder how I felt
Those many long years ago,
Just read this verse and freel the love
And you'll be sure to know.

Love, Your Mother
